I was amazed by the routines and how well all the swimmers kept in time with each other! I really liked the comment “They have the grace and strength of a gymnast, the strength of a water polo player and the endurance of a long distance runner.” I think that shows how fit and skillful they are.
I watched the 2 clips and I was truly amazed at how much power they can create without touching the floor of the pool. I can see why they need to do lots of weight training. I think that to be an Olympic synchro swimmer would take lots of effort and thousands of hours of practice. Thanks for finding this link I enjoyed watching the clips.
I have watched the Russian and the British Teams and also the British Pair. I thought the ‘shots’ showing the swimmers underwater were amazing – it really highlights the swimmer’s control, sometimes showing that swimmers keep the whole body completely straight in and out of the water. The moves where one swimmer is pushed up out of the water and performs different movements in the air were also very impressive. I particularly liked the team formations prior to diving in and also the dive routines themselves. It also highlights how long they stay underwater holding their breath.
I think they must work really hard and be dedicated to their sport.
