Hi Sarah. What a great blog. I didn’t realise how much stuff you needed for Syncro Swimming. But, any sport that requires a doughnut to compete sounds like my kind of thing. Where do I sign up?
Your answers to the questions are very interesting – I was very surprised to find out that Synchro swimmers can hold their breath under water for 2 minutes – that seems like a long time to me.
I think the underwater handstand whilst doing the splits is amazing. I can’t do any of these things individually!
I have just ‘counted’ 20 seconds and it must take very good control to hold your breath for this long.
If you are already a swimmer, the equipment is actually quite reasonably priced apart from the swimming pool of course! Sarah, do you think Mum and Dad would consider one in the back garden – there is plenty of room?
Great list of equipment-detangler brush and hair conditioner are also important.
Do you get a choice in the music for competitions or are you told what it will be?
I do synchronized swimming and I am going to Nationals this year. For competitions you need gelatin as well to keep your bun in place. Also a tip, you should open your eyes under water so you can see your patterns are correct. It will sting a first but then your eye will adjust. It is quite bury as well. Great blog!!
Sarah, your blog is so interesting! I had no idea that they played the music through underwater speakers!
